Headline: Hospital costs of in-patient treatment up to 84.2 billion euros in 2015

WIESBADEN – In 2015, the costs of in-patient treatment in hospitals amounted to roughly 84.2 billion euros. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was an increase of 3.8% year-on-year (81.2 billion euros in 2014). 

When related to roughly 19.2 million people who were treated as in-patients in hospital in 2015, the costs of in-patient treatment per case averaged 4,378 euros, which was 3.3% more than a year earlier (4,239 euros).
