Headline: Cultivated areas up 7% for apples in 2017 from 2012

WIESBADEN – Apples are the most important tree fruit in Germany. They have been grown on approximately 34,000 hectares in 2017. That is a 7% increase from 2012 (31,700 hectares). Based on the results of the 2017 orchard survey, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the total area covered by fruit trees in Germany totals almost 50,000 hectares.
