WIESBADEN – In 2017, just over 1,700 agricultural holdings have cultivated tree nursery areas of 18,600 hectares in Germany. Compared with the latest 2012 survey, the overall area cultivated has decreased by 14% and the number of tree nurseries by 24%. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the average area of a tree nursery has been 11 hectares in 2017, while it was 10 hectares in 2012. In 2017, roughly 5% of the relevant areas have been under elevated walk-in covers like greenhouses. For further information:Bettina Leven, tel: +49 (0) 611 / 75 86 35,contact form
